What:The PCX Jammers dancers swing band is one of the most well-loved traditions of PCX! A real swing band, made up entirely of some of our talented Swingtown Rebels dancers, they really know how to swing things the way dancers like and it’s so much fun to come support our friends putting themselves out there and showing off their skills in a real band. This year, due to such a long break since last time, a few key faces missing, and the difficulties of running a lot of practices over the summer holiday period, we were worried that the full practice schedule normally required would put too much burden on the jammers, so we are trying something new: A GENUINE “JAM” SESSION! Anyone who plays an instrument or sings is welcome along to the Edmond’s Band Rotunda to make some music together. We will send out a few songs in advance and do a little bit of coordination of instruments, keys, singers, etc, then just see how things go on the day! Dancers/fan club welcome for the second hour – if the musician-dancers have pulled together something danceable in their tootlings then you can have a groove to some songs as they play them, if not you can hang out in the (hopefully) sunshine by the beautiful Edmond’s band rotunda and cheer them on in their efforts! If the music sounds like caterwauling chickens we can chuck on some DJd tunes to drown them out. Where: VENUE CHANGE: We will now be at the DanceOMat, 211 Manchester Street. (There is power available for those instruments that need it). Please check the event Facebook page before heading out – we have some shelter for the band but if the forecast is worse than anticipated this is where any changes will be made. You might like to bring a seat or camping chair if you have one! Who:Anyone who dances and plays an instrument and is keen to jam! One thing we are super excited about with this format is that we might be able to have some out of town dancers join in too (Swing Riot we’re looking at some of you here…!) Non-playing dancers welcome for the second half. When:Saturday 1st of April, musicians ready to play at 10:30 am (maybe come a bit early if your instrument needs a lot of setting up), dancers/fanclub from 11:30 am.
