We’re thrilled to have seven amazing teachers from around NZ coming to share their passion for swing dancing with us, over two days of workshops.
DAVID & IMOGEN
Imogen began dancing swing after feeling the joy it brought at a taster class at Silo Park Market. Her favourite thing about dancing is getting to know people through the way they move when the music is grooving.
David has been dancing, teaching and organizing since ages ago. David loves playing with rhythms and shapes, and is passionate about helping people find their individual voice in swing dancing.
Together David and Imogen run weekly Lindy Hop classes in Auckland, and are inspired by the enthusiasm and passion of all levels of students. When they aren’t completing psychology internships or being IT dorks (but which is which??), they also run events such as Sail City Jump and the Auckland Swing Dance Competitions.
Imogen and David like to teach classes that are fun and interactive, and challenge you to move and think about your dancing in different ways. They are really excited to come to Christchurch and feel very lucky to dance together in these tough times!
LAUREN & ANDREW
Andrew and Lauren started dancing together in 2010. They met not long after Lauren had returned to Wellington after four years in Wales: in her luggage she’d brought as much Balboa as she could pack! In those days, Balboa was still a bit of a novelty in NZ. The rest – as they say – is history.
They love holidays that involve great dance events, lots of social dancing to fantastic swing music, and reconnecting with friends they’ve met at other great dance events. They really enjoy geeking out about the intricacies of dancing, and sharing their love of Balboa with anyone who’ll listen.
They’re both really looking forward to dancing with you at CSF!
REBECCA & CONOR
Rebecca is a well-known figure in the New Zealand Blues dance scene. She’s either first onto the dance floor or teaching at events around New Zealand. Rebecca enjoys dancing to a wide range of Blues music styles, exploring different aesthetics, idioms and techniques. Rebecca’s passion is to see everyone freely enjoy personal expression and musicality in dance partnerships. She also prioritises sharing the rich cultural context of Blues dance.

Conor trained in contemporary dance, but after discovering swing and blues made the switch and hasn’t looked back. He enjoys the musicality and joy these styles provide, and loves helping others to find a deeper connection to the music, their own dancing and their dance partner.
Rebecca and Conor currently teach Blues in Auckland as a part of the Black Sand Blues initiative, when Covid permits!
AMY
Amy has spent the last 26 years Tap Dancing. Tap was her first love until Lindy Hop came along in 2012 and she’s developed a real passion for Collegiate Shag too. Whatever the Jazz tune, Amy is usually partying right in front of a live band. She delights in sharing dance through creating choreography and teaching in Wellington. Top dance highlights include experiencing Camp Hollywood in 2015 & 2017 and more recently coming 4th in the Social Shag competition at All The Cats Join In, Melbourne 2020. Amy is thrilled to be bringing both Collegiate Shag and Tap workshops to her home city as part of CSF2021. She can’t wait to see Collegiate Shag take flight in more places around NZ.
I’m keen to learn from these amazing teachers! Where do I sign up?
