This year, we have decided to leave it up to you whether you want to go all out with dress ups and costumes or not. There is only one theme: “Having Fun”!

We KICK off CSF 2018 with a fun vintage ragtime taster class by Loz Yee at 7:45 pm. This is a not-to-be-missed event class to break the ice before the Ellesmere Big Band (these guys are awesome!) begins and the social dance kicks off! We will continue through until the night with DJs taking over to keep the tunes pumping for as long as people want to dance!
When: Friday 11 May 2018, doors open 7.30 pm, 7.45 pm taster class, 8.30 pm band!
Wear: Whatever you want to flaunt or just swing around in
Eat: The Whole Hog food truck will be feeding you yummy things as the band finishes up, so save your appetite and bring a few $$ to pay for it (eftpos accepted!)
Saturday 13 May 2016: Starry nights and city lights!
So…after learning some new grooves during your Saturday classes from our amazing teachers, swap your trackies for some fresh clothes and roll on up to Brazilian Beatz again. The theme is starry nights and city lights, so why not incoporate a bit of sparkle into your outfit!
Doors open at 8 pm and you can dance until late (or early – whichever way you look at it) you can show off your best new moves or dust off and practice old favourites. The music will be provided by the River City Jazzmen, Christchurch’s own world class swing band, with their signature mix of fast and faster tunes (and we’ll get them to throw some slow ones into the mix too), so you know it’s going to be a hell of a party! These guys are so good that it’s worth sitting a dance or two out just to watch them play! They start at 8:30, so don’t be late!
A Mix & Match Competition will be heaps of fun to enter or just to watch and clap along to!! Sign ups on the night – first in first served!

Eat: The Horse Shack dudes are annual tradition for us – they make yummy wraps of slow cooked goodness, and will be serving food from 10:30 pm ready to get you amping into the late night! (own cost, eftpos accepted)

Don’t miss your last chance to dance this weekend, and join us from 8 pm, with Sideline Swing bringing it from 8:30 pm, and we will keep you swinging to your favourite tunes until the wee hours of the morning!
