Registration CSF 2026

WORKSHOP CHOICES + LEVELS

Please refer to the CSF schedule page for details of workshops and the levels.

Note: There is no absolute beginner level stream at CSF – while we have introductory classes in blues, solo jazz and collegiate shag, in order to be able to attend a full program you must have done enough lindy hop to be able to comfortably social dance at least the basic shapes and rhythms across 6 count, 8 count and Charleston. In Christchurch this means you will be at least a level 2 dancer (or about to start level 2). There may be socials only passes available for newbies – please see below.

Workshops are “pick your own adventure” – dancers are invited self-stream into appropriate level workshops for the styles you’re interested in. We love this as it means you can decide on the day what you feel like doing, yay! To make it work, we do ask:

  1. Choose your level appropriately: If you are unsure if you are ready for the level B or C workshops for a given style, please ask an experienced friend for their advice – we love people to see people challenging themselves but we want to ensure that the workshops can run at levels that are true to the description.
  2. Flexibility for role ratios: We encourage everyone to learn whichever role they prefer (provided you are in the appropriate level) but in order to help us manage lead/follow ratios when class make up is unpredictable, we would love it if our wonderful friends who dance both roles could sometimes be a little flexible to help us make it work.
  3. Class capacity: We know that each time slot has three awesome class options, but if it just happens on the day that one class gets particularly full we may request any dancers arriving after it reaches capacity to change to an alternative (so get there on time or a couple of min early if you definitely want to be in the class!)

SCENE LEADERS WORKSHOPS

In order to help grow the NZ scene further and give all our wonderful NZ teachers a chance to really focus on their own dancing, we will be hosting two special workshops on Friday afternoon with Noni and Jarrod – one blues and one lindy hop. If you are a teacher in your own scene you are welcome to register for these directly using the link below (coming soon). Spaces are limited.

Scene leaders workshops: $25 each

There may be limited spaces available for very experienced non-teachers, please enquire by emailing swingtownrebels@gmail.com before registering.

THE BORING BITS (aka refunds and cancellation policy)

As you can probably tell from ALL THE AWESOMENESS, there is a scary amount of moolah required to run this event and we do base some of our spending decisions around registration numbers. So while we know that life happens and plans change, we do need some certainty in order to be able to do cool stuff! Therefore we have come up with the following policy:

Transfer of passes to the waitlist: We are anticipating the event to sell out and be running a waitlist. Therefore if you have registered but find yourself unable to attend (you have our sympathies!) then please get in touch with us as early as possible and we will arrange to transfer your pass to the next person on the waitlist and give you a full redund (less the 3% booking fee).
– Transfer of passes to someone not on the waitlist: To be fair to people on the waitlist, passes are not able to be privately transferred to someone else unless we have informed you that there are no people currently on the waitlist. In this case you are encouraged to find a friend or acquaintance who is keen to come and we can arrange a transfer.
– Refunds without a pass transfer: If we or you are unable to find someone to take your pass, then we can arrange for a full refund of your fee until December 15th and a 50% refund of your fee up until January 15th. Beyond that no refunds will be possible, but rest assured that we will continue trying to find someone to take your pass until the weekend itself!
Non-attendance or partial attendance due to illness or injury: If you get sick and might be contagious please don’t come! Likewise if you have injured yourself and your doctor tells you that 30 hours of dancing in one weekend would be very silly and risk futher injury then we also don’t want that on our conscience. In either of these cases we will be able to arrange a full refund for you (or a partial refund less any events already attended). But please don’t take advantage of this if you are actually cancelling for another reason! We generally run a high-trust model with this stuff, but we reserve the right to request proof of illness or injury if there is any uncertainty.
Violation of community guidelines: To attend any CSF events you must follow our Community Guidelines and we reserve the right to request anyone who does not do so to leave and not attend any further CSF events. In this case, no refunds will be given and no arguments will be entered into – the decision of the lead safe spaces coordinator and Swingtown Rebels director will be final.
Event cancellation: If CSF2026 has to be cancelled due to events outside our control (e.g. natural disaster, Covid, etc.), we will contact you to arrange a refund of your registration fees less each ticket’s share of any costs for the event which we are unable to cancel/get refunded (we will do our best to make this as low as possible, but CSF is fully volunteer run and we haven’t got the capacity or the funds to absorb a lot of sunk costs). Unfortunately, any of your travel costs can not be covered, and we encourage you to take out travel insurance if this is a concern.
– Event alteration: We reserve the right to alter or cancel one or more of the individual events if needed (for reasons of teacher or band illness, unforseen venue issues etc). If this occurs, we will endeavour to find alternate arrangements that are as similar as possible to the advertised event, but if nothing can be arranged within the available period then an individual event may be cancelled without any refund to pass holders (relevant individual event ticket holders will be refunded).

To arrange any of the above, please get in touch with us at swingtownrebels@gmail.com as early as possible.
