Quail Island – Rent a kayak and paddle out or take a chartered boat. Hikes, history and shipwrecks give quail island its unique character but it’s also a great place just to spend the day by the water.
Antarctic centre – Christchurch is the launch point for Antarctic expeditions. The Antarcic centre is a great way to get to learn about Antarctica, the lifestyle and the research carried out there.
Adrenalin forest – If you have some extra energy after all that dancing why not challenge yourself to a high flying adrenalin course full or physical and mental obstacles!
Visit Restart – Our container mall in the city! A great place for a wander, a snack stop or some shopping.

Bamboozled – Oriental fusion food, the tastiest you’ll get anywhere! You can find this gem in Sumner.
Coffee Co-op – A great place in Addington to grab a coffee or a bite to eat. Especially cool as instead of an order number to locate your table you get a different country flag!
The Brewery – Try some of the Chch local microbrewery beer, this is one of many!
Pomeroys – With a wide range of beers on tap Pomeroys makes for a fun beer loving experience!
Volstead – Located in Riccarton, these guys know their beer! Great range of NZ craft beers and great mulled cider!
J’aime Les Macaroons – If you’ve ever wanted to satiate your desire for macaroons this is DEFINITELY the place to go! Check out ‘The Colombo’.
Out of Christchurch
Cave stream – Drive into the hills and hike down to the big cave entrance. From here you get on your poly pros and your torches and walk /climb your way upstream through the pitch black, up waterfalls and past smooth water carved walls. 45mins later, step out into the sun and thaw your feet!
Castle Hill – About an hour out of Christchurch lies the miraculous limestone boulders seen in the film Narnia. Towering high into the sky, this is well known as one of the best bouldering sites in the world.
Mt.Hutt & other ski fields! – There is usually snow about this time of year! Come to Christchurch a few days early and head up the slopes for some sweet snow action! Only 1 1/2 hours drive from Christchurch!
Akaroa – Akaroa is a historic French and English settlement in the heart of an ancient volcano. What better a way to spend a day than in cafes, galleries and swimming with the dolphins.
Little river – On the way to Akaroa, stop in at the coolest cafe and art gallery in Little River. With things from affordable to ridiculous there’s great things to look at and something for everyone!
Hanmer Springs – Hot pools, mountain biking, walks, mountains, quad bikes, bungy jumping, river rafting and fudge.. Hanmer Springs has it all. About one and half hours’ drive from Christchurch.
Arthurs Pass – If hiking is your thing, Arthurs Pass is the place to visit. Nestled into the Alps, there are some amazing walks both long and short.
Otago wine region – Well know for producing some of the best wine in the world.. heaps of great wineries to visit and beautiful countryside to see!
Milford Sounds – Milford may be the most beautiful place in NZ, with steep cliffs and waterfalls cascading down every surface its majestic beauty can be viewed by boat or on the hiking tracks.
Glaciers – NZ has two main glaciers in the south island, Franz Josef and Fox. Both are amazing and are a whole new experience traversing the icy slopes with a tour guide and crampons, exploring ice caves and beautiful views.
Stewart island – A short boat ride from the bottom of the South Island, Stewart island is like NZ untouched. Home to a host of native species and covered in lush forest, it really is a beautiful place!
Marlborough sounds & Nelson – Heading to the top of the south island you hit great weather and great wine. The Marlborough region, produces some of NZ’s best wines and with the sounds there as well, there are always good times to be had.
